In-progress sketch and test colour for the tribute piece I'm doing. OTL I suck.

You know, it seemed to me for a while there as if I was hardly doing any drawing at all. I felt a bit listless, a bit without direction, and I decided that I would - for the sake of keeping-up practice, getting better acquainted with cute/funny subjects, and for acquiring Gaia items without having to pay cash for them - I would open up a little art shop on the Gaia forums, offering to draw peoples' avatars and OCs for them for what I thought was a reasonable price.

I think I may have priced it all too low, because I was SWAMPED and a lot of my customers have gone ahead and just given me more Gaia gold for my trouble-! XD;;; Here are some of the things that I've made there:


For myself of my own avatar at the time. I used this as my primary example/advertising tool.


For my friend Jonathan of his adorable octo-girl OC! It was fun to pencil, ink and CG those tentacles!! Though certainly I have much room to grow in the tentacle-drawing department, I'm having fun learning! 8D


A pair of avatars for Stoic Cat, and MY it was fun to make those fairy wings transparent and that golden pendant radiantly glowy-! XD


And one more commission, this time of someone's original character sitting on a massive cuppycake! ♥

I made-up this little monster design when I was in [art] High School, marveling at creepy disembodied head practice which involved contour lines to delineate where the nose, eyes and mouth would be. Voila, beastly creature of nightmares! One assumes that it poos from some dark place where a neckhole would be, and possibly mates with other fowl birdy-things via some tongue-like mechanism.

Ew.

IN BETTER SPIRITS, have a bunny lolita!

One of my favourite original characters [whose name is currently 'Teru' but really ought to be replaced with something better - I had initially wanted to name him 'Stein,' actually, but I'm sure that I'd like him to have a much more sensible, cool and realistic name for a Demon Prince]. and myself. I got a haircut, finally! Wooh, was it badly needed. |D;

Anyway, yeah, my OC there- he has tentacles on his head. Yup. His father was the horrible, gross-looking 'King of Demons' and his mother was a succubus. She had manymanymany kids by the king, and Teru was not the oldest NOR was he the youngest- he did, however, kill all of his elder and younger siblings in order to secure the throne for himself, and his succubus mother was always very proud of him for being her prettiest child.

Also from the same story:


Hypnos, AKA "Ein," a God of Dreams. Ein's father was Somnus, the God of Sleep, and his elder brother was Morpheus, another God of Dreams who could shapeshift. ANYWAY, long story short, because of a prophecy to do with the God of Sleep's youngest son bringing about DESTRUCTION with all-caps, Somnus raised Ein as a daughter instead and, voila, the Demon Prince wanted in on that so that he could become a God of Dreams and turn everything into nightmares. LOL, yeah.

ANYWAY, needless to say, DESTRUCTION went down with all caps.

SO BLEH. There's more to that story, but not for today. For today, there's laundry and a shower and room cleaning and commission inking before bedtime and work tomorrow-!!

I was just too tired to properly respond when a roach came flying out of the trunk of my work van one morning. XD; Can you believe that I literally thought 'hm, I should draw a comic about this' at the time? Loser. |D;

Some of my Broken Doll characters. |D; Specifically, the ones that were made from cat ragdolls. The top right is Choco, then beneath him a random-ass floating face. XD to the left is Sabbath, the main character, and to the left of HIM is Seth, my friend Seby's ragdoll cat with whom I RPed this story rather than turning it into a legitimate comic or something.

The smirking asshole with the black sclera is Church, the villain for the story. And bottom left is a TERRIBLE rendition of Jinx.

Yeah. ALLL lame. |D; We all go through phases, bro.

And here are a girl!Matt and a Mello from the roaring 20's! Inspired by the great, the lovely and the SUPER TALENTED Manda, who drew these two in this sort of fashion first [and better] than I ever could have! ♥ I'm rather proud of these, actually. Mostly for Matt's freckly cute knees. ♥♥♥

My AU!Mello from Nihil, in the hypothetical BAD END scenario- except not, because he'd be WAY more burned-up and rotten |D;;.

So then, after Otakon ended I got back to my house in Savannah just long enough to pack and move to Charleston, 2 hours away. |D; And after I packed and moved to Charleston, I didn't have internet for a week. And after THAT week, I started work at the downtown market AND had to go home for three days of internet-less visit. Then, upon my return to Charleston, there was MORE work, and... here I am, AGES later and barely having drawn much at all for all of the hectic goings-on in my life. SORRY, sketchblog, I didn't mean to neglect you! /;A;

Anyway... today's doodle features an OLD old old original character of mine, whose name is so stupidly reflective of how old she is that I'm not going to write the whole thing down where human eyes can see it ever again! XD; Let's refer to her as Kata, since THAT bit is not so embarrassing, and I'll say that she had an incredible childhood that involved her being put through something of a little kids' Battle Royale for the entertainment of the rich, then eventually culminated in her becoming an assassin. Because I loved the Shadow Skill OVA, Weiß Kreuz and all sorts of other fabulously bloody and poorly-animated things at that age, I think I was really into the concept of creating a character who was a killer. But, you know, I wanted the element of invincibility and self-confidence of the fighters in Shadow Skill to be mixed with the self-destructive downward spiral of the Weiß Kreuz characters, and for a measure of emo to be removed from the equation. XD;; ANYWAY, yeah, trip down memory laaaaane~

Kata has battle scars, by the way, but I totally didn't draw them because I doodled the things above at work between customers. And I realized as I drew her that she looks a bit like my other OC Rothko, except that SHE'S a brunette with red eyes and Rothko legitimately has black hair and eyes. Go figure!

And since I had a bad day, I decided to draw my character Emily sitting on a tire and looking at some stars. Bizarre and not-very-good, sure, but I DID so love sticking pastels and gentility into this one. Funny how the worst moods have me drawing pretty, girly things, eh?
